How renting with a CMHA voucher works with us

Send this form. We reply within two business days.
See the home. We set up a showing that fits your schedule.
Bring your RFTA packet. Your CMHA housing specialist gives you the Request for Tenancy Approval packet. We fill in the owner pages and submit it to CMHA for you.
CMHA confirms the rent and inspects. CMHA checks the rent, then schedules the HQS inspection, usually within about 15 days of getting the packet.
Sign and move in. Once the home passes, we sign the lease and the HAP contract with CMHA and set your move-in date.

Have ready: your voucher (check the expiration date), the RFTA packet if you’ve already received it, and a photo ID.

Voucher running out? Tell us the expiration date in the form. If it’s close, ask your housing specialist about an extension now, not after the inspection.
